Notes on the sources
Date: statistik-des-holocaust.de, Yad Vashem and berlin.de give 29 Oct 1941; the Bundesarchiv chronology gives "27./29. Oktober 1941" and the Gleis 17 plate reads 27.10.1941. Count: Loose (2009) 1,034 named people (same as the Gleis 17 plate). Łódź records 1,027/1,030/1,044; Gottwaldt/Schulle "1009/908"; Yad Vashem "906 to 908". Survivors: Meyhöfer (via Yad Vashem) 1; Loose counts at least 23 for all four Litzmannstadt transports combined, so left null. Station: Yad Vashem states that this train left from Grunewald station; Gleis 69 e.V. (trains until spring 1942) and the Gedenkort Güterbahnhof Moabit (the first deportations in 1941) also name Bahnhof Grunewald; the berlin.de list (after Gottwaldt/Schulle) gives "Grunewald" for transports 1–10 but notes that the loading stations are not named in the original lists and are known from eyewitness accounts.
