What happened

The train, originally planned for Riga, was diverted to Kowno (Kaunas). All deportees were shot at Fort IX on 25 November 1941; the Jäger report records 2,934 Jews from Berlin, Munich and Frankfurt murdered there that day.

Count: Gottwaldt/Schulle (Bundesarchiv, berlin.de) 1,006; Yad Vashem "812–1,006" (787 names in the Berlin memorial book); Gleis 17 plate 730. statistik-des-holocaust.de gives no figure (no Gestapo list survives). survivorsCount 0 follows Yad Vashem ("all the deportees were murdered at Fort IX"). Station: Yad Vashem states that this train left from Grunewald station; Gleis 69 e.V. (trains until spring 1942) and the Gedenkort Güterbahnhof Moabit (the first deportations in 1941) also name Bahnhof Grunewald; the berlin.de list (after Gottwaldt/Schulle) gives "Grunewald" for transports 1–10 but notes that the loading stations are not named in the original lists and are known from eyewitness accounts.
