Notes on the sources

Berlin designation in the deportation lists: "Sondertransport" (statistik-des-holocaust.de); Theresienstadt registration number I/3. Survivors: holocaust.cz: 26 survivors among 100 recorded deportees; Rita Meyhöfer (cited by Yad Vashem): 25 (I/1–I/3 combined) known survivors. Yad Vashem gives Rita Meyhöfer's survivor figure only for the first three transports combined (25); holocaust.cz gives 0, 0 and 26 respectively. statistik-des-holocaust.de notes this was a "Sondertransport", not an "Alterstransport"; the Reichsvereinigung minutes of 31.5.1942 refer to "the special transport of the 98". According to Yad Vashem, most deportees were family members of Jewish men shot by the SS in reprisal after the Baum Group's arson attack on the "Das Sowjetparadies" exhibition (18 May 1942); 21 were residents of the old-age home in Große Hamburger Straße. Because of this transport (and later the large transports), the Berlin "Alterstransport" numbering diverges from the Theresienstadt numbering (e.g. I/4 = "3. Alterstransport").
