Notes on the sources
Destination: long uncertain (Warsaw or Auschwitz; berlin.de still "Warschau oder Auschwitz (?)"); statistik-des-holocaust.de shows from a Gestapo Braunschweig letter and Magdeburg finance office files that it was Auschwitz, and Yad Vashem agrees. Count: 210 on the Berlin "Teiltransport" list (199 Berlin, 11 Potsdam, including psychiatric patients from Eberswalde and Neuruppin); the whole train totalled 1,005 per statistik-des-holocaust.de. Gottwaldt/Schulle list "Hamburg/Bielefeld – Berlin 697"; berlin.de 192; Gleis 17 210. Survivors: Yad Vashem reports that the Berlin memorial book mentions two unnamed survivors, but it could trace none; left null. Yad Vashem calls it "17. Osttransport (Welle XX)". Station disputed: Gleis 69 e.V. lists this train among those that left from Güterbahnhof Moabit (from 28 March 1942 on), whereas the Yad Vashem entry states it left from Grunewald station. Gleis 69 itself notes that the exact date of the switch from Grunewald to Moabit is not documented. Recorded as "moabit" following the Moabit station research; treat as uncertain.
