What happened
On arrival at Auschwitz-Birkenau the SS carried out a selection; most deportees were murdered in the gas chambers, and a minority were sent to forced labour, which few survived.

Among the deportees were 74 people from the Jewish hospital at Auguststraße 17 and the author Else Ury (Yad Vashem). Survivors: Rita Meyhöfer, as cited by Yad Vashem.
